You mean even a woman can open it!?
A great series of adverts from a time when it was ok to beat your wife because she didn't use Chase & Sanborn coffee. It's amazing when you think some of these are from less than 40 years ago. Very funny story, You should definitely check out the full story. read more

I think you're making a huge mistake in assuming that the ads are to be taken at face value. The last one about killing a woman, for instance, can't be taken seriously. Neither can the one about the woman being spanked. In fact, the spanking ad looks like both parties are enjoying themselves, which must have raised no small commotion at the time. The ketchup ad isn't that bad, as women today STILL hand hard-to-open jars to me and still complain about them.
LOL! Those are great ads! Thanks for the laugh!
Yeah I'm not sure either if they are really for real. Maybe they are but as you say it's hard to get that it has only been 40 years.
Amiable brief and this fill someone in on helped me alot in my college assignement. Thanks you for your information.
The ad for Kellog's Pep was practically feminist. It acknowledged the hard work that goes into being a stay at home wife.
The only women who would be opposed to that are feminazi types who would force all women to work outside the home - not by choice but for "honor" or whatever the hell the logic is in forcing someone to do something against her will.
As for the Chase & Sanborn ad - If you wanted to raise eyebrows you had the woman do the spanking back then. A dominatrix ad would have been risque. A husband spanking his wife? Not so much. They got laughs out of 'Ricky' spanking 'Lucy'. There's irony in there. A married couple sharing a bed on television would have shocked and been improper but a husband could spank his wife for laughs.
